Academic (Preparatory Stages)
The school is committed to provide a positive, challenging and academic learning environment with our amazing academic choices for our students. Our goal is to provide learning activities which require high levels of critical thinking and reasoning, accompanied by application of learning to real-world situations.
Additionally, our teachers provide support to our students during the school day and through the school website.
· Journeys Course:
-It extends the students’ knowledge of English through rich and motivating texts, vocabulary, essential grammar
and skills with effective teaching strategies.
-It extends the students’ vocabulary and skills throughout reading different types of passages.
- It stimulates the students through different projects related to
their daily life based on the theme of each unit.
-It helps the student achieve success with extensive review and self-assessment and tests for every unit.

Reading
- Being able to read a text fluently is an important skill.
Reading and understanding is a skill
that students need to practice, so we try to get as many students' opinions as possible.
- Students will read individually. They will be able to answer the questions and then check their answers.
- Students will learn new vocabulary related to the theme
of the unit, which is relevant to their daily life.
Listening
- It develops students' awareness of the listening process
and listening strategies.
-Improving the students' listening skills. They should try to pay closer attention to the
English spoken around them. TV programmes and films in English
can help students
better understand the language, for example; watch DVDs in English without the subtitles.
It also helps students a great deal when English is spoken
exclusively in the classroom.
Speaking
-The goal of teaching speaking skills is communicative efficiency. Learners should be able to make
themselves understood, using their current proficiency.
They should try to avoid confusion
in the message due to faulty pronunciation, grammar,
or vocabulary and to observe the social
and cultural rules that apply in each communication situation.
- Students will learn the skills of presentation using different means
of illustrations such as; Power Point, Movie Maker, etc…….)
Writing
-Students will be able to differentiate among different types
of writing as writing;
"An E-mail – Personal Statement – Argumentative Essays – Narrative Essays ,,,,,,,,,,,,, etc"
Literature
(Novel – Drama)
- Students will listen and read for details,
and improve comprehensibility in speaking
and writing for the purpose of communicating to an audience
in English.
- Students will be able to; read novels and plays in English.
- Understand main ideas and details in different types of spoken
texts, For example;
"Themes, plot, symbols, moral lessons and speakers' attitudes and emotions"
Comprehension
- Students will learn different skills;
-Skim and scan for answers.
-Main Idea.
-Making inference.
Poetry
-Poetry is taught for pleasure and enjoyment. It further lays the foundation for an adequate
appreciation of English poetry. Therefore the aims of teaching
poetry should be different
for different levels. The general aims of teaching poetry as follows;
- To enable the students to read the poem with proper rhythm and intonation.
- To enable the students to enjoy the recitation of the poem.
- To develop the students' power of imagination.
- To develop love for poetry reading and writing.
Methods
- As for the course book, students will cover 4 units per term
. ( Prep Stage)
-Activities will be related to the course book in the form of projects.
-As for literature, students will be taught a novel for the 1st term
and a play for the 2nd term.
- In the annual show, the English department will perform
a play / a song …etc
- Broadcast; Classes will present the morning broadcast in turn. It will include pieces of news,
information, interviews, songs, short performances…. etc.
The school offers a semi international curriculum for
the students in Preparatory stages to give them the chance to improve
the four main skills in English Language (Listening – Speaking – Reading – Writing)
We continue teaching the second language
in a way that suits their age through activities to improve
the student’s language skills.
Secondary
*The school aims at providing special educational service that gives priority to the students’
ethics and psychological needs in addition to focusing on academic excellence.
In order to achieve this, the school employs highly qualified, experienced teachers.
*The school encourages the students to be actively involved in
all kind of activities.
*Class academic competition are held in all subjects to promote the competitive
spirit of the student and improve their academic level. Winners are honoured with certificates.
*Field trips are organized to combine what is taught with reality.
Close-up series enables the students to deal with topics in depth. Moreover,
the course uses an integrated approach to all four language skills
(reading, listening, speaking and writing) in a carefully graded
and well-organised,
user-friendly syllabus combining functions, structures, vocabulary,
pronunciation and communication skills.
A building-block strategy has been employed
through which every lexical and grammatical item is carefully
presented and systematically
revised enabling students to acquire the language naturally
and use it in meaningful contexts.
Communicative language teaching is viewed as a practical activity
rather than a theoretical notion.
Close-up series is an interactive course in English.
The main concern of the syllabus has been
to explicitly demonstrate how English is used in real life situations,
thus,enabling learners to use it in meaningful contexts.
